Coco Gauff has had a quick rise to the top of the tennis world – capped by her sensational win at the 2023 US Open last year. Now the world-ranked number four aged just 19 years old, she is two wins away from winning her second Grand Slam as she prepares herself to player Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal of the Australian Open. While many have focused on her skills on the court, questions have been flying around on the American’s personal life – and who she is in a relationship with.
Last year, after her US Open triumph, Gauff confirmed that she had a boyfriend – but the identity of this man is still not known.
After defeating Sabalenka in New York in three sets, Gauff spoke at her press conference afterward, explaining the role her boyfriend played – despite the fact his identity has remained private.Â
On visualizing victory, she shared: “Honestly, I didn’t have any of those visions [of winning] till last night. You know, I thought about it, but I told myself to get it out of my head, because that’s what I did at [the] French [Open]. I was envisioning, you know, what would happen if I would win. I think I wanted it too much.
“Last night, I started a little bit, but honestly, I just called my boyfriend, and I told him: ‘Let’s talk until it’s time to go to sleep.’ So we spoke until 1:00 a.m., and then I went to sleep.”
