With a reasonable possibility that a seat could open up at Red Bull in 2025, Sainz is sure to be in the team’s thoughts. The Spaniard has performed relatively well amid reliability issues for Ferrari in recent seasons, claiming a pair of memorable race wins, and has the kind of credentials Red Bull demands from its drivers.
The Sainz family already has a relationship with Red Bull from 61-year-old Sainz Sr’s days as a rally racer. From 2013-14, he competed in the Dakar Rally in a car supported by Red Bull and the state of Qatar.
Sainz Jr is eager to put the Hamilton saga behind him and focus on making his final year with Ferrari a success. He told Sky Italia earlier this month: “It’s certainly not the best feeling to start the season. But the moment I put on the helmet in Bahrain and take to the track, the only sensation I’ll feel will be the desire to go faster and faster – and also aiming for victory in the world championship.
