Helmut Marko praises Red Bull chiefs investigating Christian Horner as probe rumbles on | F1 | Sport

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has commended the way the company reacted to allegations of inappropriate behaviour against Christian Horner. The team principal’s future remains up in the air while awaiting the findings of an investigation launched by Red Bull’s Austrian HQ.

Rumours suggest Marko and Horner have not always seen eye to eye at Red Bull. Horner has spearheaded the F1 team since 2005, while 80-year-old Marko remains a powerfully ally of triple world champion Max Verstappen with plenty of sway behind the scenes.

Red Bull are now entering the third week of their investigation into Horner since allegations of inappropriate behaviour were brought to senior figures at the multi-billion-dollar drinks company by a fellow employee.

And Marko insists Red Bull have handled the situation ‘very well’ after they hired an independent lawyer to grill Horner at an undisclosed location earlier this month.

“As you know, this is an internal investigation,” Marko told Red Bull’s ServusTV channel. “The sooner a result is available, the better because of course, rumours and other stories are bound to sprout due to the long duration.

“[But] I think Red Bull has reacted very well in this matter. The long duration of this investigation is not their fault. They are endeavouring to [have] a fair investigation and then react accordingly.”
